What a fantastic, clear, historical perspective on the worrying issue of culture wars and the dissolution of the Western civilisation. I'm particularly impressed by the revelation of the "misplaced moral authority", which indeed identifies for me the root of the malaise of the culture war and confusion. The emphasis of the loss of the historical knowledge and understanding amongst modern intellectuals and politicians alike cannot be articulated any clearer, nor can its significance be overstated.
