Woke Activists Are Scapegoating Israel For The Los Angeles Inferno
Once Jews were blamed for poisoning wells In medieval Europe. Now yhey Are Supposedly Busy Causing Fires in California
The ceaseless propaganda war against Israel seeks to represent this nation and its people as the source of global evil.
There is a long tradition of blaming Jews for pandemics like the Black Death or for poisoning the wells of communities. As one commentator noted, ‘in medieval Europe, Jews were blamed so often, and so viciously’ for the Black Death, ‘that it is surprising it was not called the Jewish Death’[i].
From 1348 to 1351, more than 200 Jewish communities in Europe were wiped out, their inhabitants accused of spreading contagion or poisoning wells.
Now it’s the turn of the Woke-Islamist alliance to embrace the tradition of scapegoating Jews and point the finger of blame for the catastrophic fire in Los Angeles on Israel. Since Israel-blaming often assumes a hysterical search for new sources of rhetorical ammunition it is no surprise that the California Fire was ceased upon as the fault of this supposed malevolent nation.
In the past behind every disaster was the scheming Jew- today Israel has been assigned the role of the apotheosis of evil.
It takes a bit of a stretch and leap into the realm of fantasy to attribute to Israel responsibility for the Los Angeles Fire. So instead of offering an argument for attributing responsibility to Israel for the Los Angeles Disaster, anti-Zionist propagandist rely on analogies and throwaway remarks. Code Pink, a woke activist group, said on Instagram, ‘When US taxes go to burning people alive in Gaza, we can’t be surprised when those fires come home’[ii]. From this perspective the Los Angeles Inferno is payback for providing support to Israel.
Code Pink and other anti-Israeli zealots assert that the reason why the Los Angeles fire is so out of control is because the resources that should have gone to the local fire department to deal with its outbreak were diverted to supporting Israel. This point was echoed by the New York branch of the anti-Zionist Jewish Voice for Peace, in an Instagram post about the fires. It stated, ‘instead of putting resources toward making our country livable, our government is putting billions toward Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza’.[iii] This clumsy attempt to blame financial support for Israel for the fire makes no attempt to explain to explain the link between the situation in Gaza and in Los Angeles.
Instead of a coherent argument anti-Israeli activists hint darkly that the Los Angeles Fire is retribution for the situation of Gaza. Fatima Mohammed, a leader of New York’s hardcore anti-Israel group Within Our Lifetime, posted an image of the fires and said, ‘The flames of Gaza will not stop there.’! She added that; ‘Dropping hundreds of thousands of bombs on Gaza, turning it into a blazing inferno, has consequences,’ and observed that ‘there are climate consequences that will find us all’[iv].
Through linking the Los Angeles fire with the situation in Gaza a tendentious link is constructed between two very different and totally unconnected events. For the anti-Israeli journalist Mehdi Hassan there is a direct link between US military aid to Israel and the Los Angeles fire department’s inadequate budget.[v] His post on X suggests that budget cuts in the Los Angeles Fire Department stand in sharp contrast to American’s military support of Israel.
Numerous individuals followed the anti-Zionist influencers on X took to scapegoat Israel for the events in Los Angeles. There are numerous posts on social media drawing an analogy between the burning of Los Angeles and Gaza[vi]. Some of them went so far as to say that they see the fires as a “divine message” for the United States. The journalist Mahmoud Bassam stated:
‘The United States provided Israel with weapons to kill us, but the fire came from God. They ignited the fires of war in our land, killed our children, and destroyed our homes. They supplied Israel with weapons to carry out killing and destruction without mercy or accountability. But the just God does not forget the prayers of the oppressed and the tears of mothers. The fire that has ignited in their land is not man-made; it is from God. It is a divine message to all who dare to commit injustice and tyranny, that God’s justice surpasses all. Indeed, God grants respite but does not neglect, and whoever ignites fire in our lands will have fire come to them where they least expect it’.
Mahmoud Bassam startling assertion that the Los Angeles fire is God’s punishment of America for supporting Israel indicates that these hysterical activists are even prepared to will do whatever it takes to scapegoat Israel for the catastrophe in California.
Using God’s name in vain, another individual posted; ‘God don’t like ugly.” She captioned the post by pointing out the complicity of the American government in the genocide in Gaza: “Their government is funding genocide in Gaza and in support of Israel with their full chest…see their little Gaza now!! Their government is involved in every aspect of evil in the world……’[vii]
It is worth noting that many members of this anti-Israeli fan club have been discreetly celebrating the fact that America had it coming.
The self-serving attempt to scapegoat Israel and make political capital out of the misery suffered by the victims of the Los Angeles fire serves as testimony to its morally dissolute character of the anti-Zionist lobby. This very American disaster has nothing to do with Israel or the war in Gaza. The behaviour of this lobby exposes its the plight of those who lost their house and possessions.
Blaming Israel for all the ills of this world represents a throwback to the medieval era where it was normal to accuse the Jews of every catastrophe that struck a community. Looking at the current scapegoating of Israel it is difficult to avoid the conclusion that we are now living in an era the High-Tech version of medieval Jew blaming.
If they get away with their morally depraved project a new dark age is imminent.

I live in Westminster and have had a ring side seat to over a year of intensifying racism (of the antisemitic kind) which I have watched with increasingly bewilderment and dismay. But I am not bewildered by the young people involved - simple moral causes from the anti-Vietnam war movements of students to the present free Palestine movement appeal to the young and to the some middle class followers of fashion and virtue signallers - but by the complete lack of push back by the establishment.
Where, for example, are the speeches in parliament, the articles in the press debunking claims that Israel is an apartheid state and explaining that Israel's surrounding muslim states actually are? Where are official narratives about what happens in war (civilians get killed) and how the IDF probably take more care to avoid this than an army ever. (cf Fallujah, Aleppo etc).? Governments and media are capable of great control of narratives (see Covid) but have retreated over Israel and its defensive war. There is only occasional lip service to being against anti-semitism but on the basis of look at what they do not what they say it is truly shameful.
But, as with rape gangs over the the past couple of decades, the establishment is being increasingly exposed by X and the US. It looks likely that the Trump administration will support Israel finishing the job and reshaping the Middle East and with luck that will include, finally and at last, the end of Obama's deeply misguided accomodation with Iran. Narratives may change eventually as a new reality percolates across the West. One can hope so.
This time round there is reason to hope that the second Trump administration will be much more effective. Much depends on it actually.
Thank you for this! Another nail in the coffin of what used to be the Left, and which is now the Right. In the 90s it used to be televangelists like Pat Robertson who believed in divine retribution for our sins. Now, it's the Left.
